Games

We have become a family that plays games. We played some before we met Christian but that number has exploded since we have been lucky enough to have him in our lives. I have started playing World of Warcraft- nerdy I know- much to the chagrin of Lizzie. I think that she is embarrassed just a little that her mom is such a geek. William and Katie have started playing The Adventures of Zelda: the Ocarina of Time on a regular basis. Christian got a new computer game called the Age of Conan that he and his friends play like mad. Then there are the board games: The Farming Game, Monopoly, Chutes and Ladders for the high school kids being cool, and our latest game Ticket to Ride Europe edition. We also got The Great Dalmuti card game. I know that it seems kind of nerdy to play so many games, but they really bring us together as friends and family. We have a great time and it gives us something to do other than watch TV. I say bring on the games!

The end to the waiting game

Katie has been having some problems lately with her vision. We took her in to see the ophthalmologist last week because of this. He ran some test on her and didn't like the results so he scheduled her for a CT scan of the brain to rule out a brain tumor. We got the results back and there is no apparent tumor. So that's nice. We are going to have to figure out what is wrong with our sweetie still, but the brain is not it. Whew!

The other thing is not as serious but still pending. I'll blog more about that later.

The waiting game

Someone very close to me might be really sick. Bad sick. But since the diagnostic tests aren't until Friday we are playing the waiting game. It is not at all fun. If the tests come back positive it will change my life forever. I'm not really mentioning a ton here, because I don't know anything and just kind of need to vent for a second.

There is a second part of my waiting game that is on hold until Friday. It is also life altering. I can't believe that all of this is going to happen in one day. I hope that good things are going to happen Friday. The all clear for the first thing and the "we can fix that" for the second.

I hope that my stomach doesn't self digest between now and then...

Surprise!

Christian has been growing out a fine beard. The other day we went out to eat and on the way there the sun was glaring in his eyes, so I had him put on my sunglasses. Here are the pics showing that great beard.

I really think that he looks great with it.

Later that night Katie flat ironed his hair and wrapped it in a turban so it wouldn't get messy. You can really see how fluffy this beard is!

This picture was taken the very next day when I came home from work. He had shaved the beard off and let Katie put eye liner on him. What a difference a day makes!

I think that he looks great either way though.

My wish...

Lately I have been thinking about the fact that I don't live in a neighborhood that is full of kids. I never have for the entire life of my children. Christian and I were talking about how when we were little there were always neighborhood kids to play with. My kids have never had this opportunity no matter where we lived. I am starting to feel guilty for not having worked harder to give them this time in their lives. I really feel for William, since he is so much younger than the girls. There are no little boys around here for him to go play with. ARGH! I think that life is not simple. If we moved to a different neighborhood there could be a chance, but we would have to buy a house and I'm not ready for that. I guess I will be arranging play dates and driving him around for a while longer.

Day shift is painful

I don't know how people work day shifts at the hospital. You have to get up so early. I guess there are morning people out there that make fabulous day nurses. I am not one of them. I have 5 more shifts like this! I hope I survive.

On the plus side, I switch back over to nights after next week. Hurray!!!!
